The Anti-Hamas Billboard on New Jersey Highway Has Been Taken Down

An advertisement on a sign alongside a New Jersey highway warning motorists about the terrorist organization Hamas is no longer there. The sign, paid for by ‘JewBelong’ read, “Oh don’t be naive. Hamas would chop your head off too.”

It appeared on a billboard on Route 80. After fielding complaints, the sign was removed. At this point, it’s not certain who made the decision to remove the sign.

JewBelong is a group that sponsors messages to combat anti-Semitism.

“These days, antisemitism is growing, and well, it can be hard to be a Joyous Jew when there’s a target on your back. That’s why we’re raising awareness about the problem! JewBelong’s brave approach calls out Jew-hate. Our signature pink and white billboards, billboard trucks, website, and strong social media presence powerfully confront antisemitism as well as support Joyous Judaism. This loud and proud message is starting important conversations, creating excitement in the Jewish community, and garnering mainstream media attention,” the group says.

The group also has a message running this week that counters the LGBTQ community members who support Hamas that reads, “Don’t be naive LGBTQ: They’re coming for you too.”

According to Schlomo Shorr, a former journalist who now works for Agudath Israel of America, “This anti-Hamas billboard on Route 80 in Bogota Borough resulted in more than 100 calls to police before it was taken down by organizers, authorities say.”
