PITTSBURGH, PA – Two citizens reported receiving misleading calls from an individual posing as Deputy Stephon Warren of the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the courtroom of Judge Bruce Beemer revealed today. The impersonator requested personal information, falsely claiming the call recipients missed a grand jury hearing in front of Judge Beemer.
In both incidents, the individual claiming to be a deputy asked for the recipient’s name, mobile phone number, and address. The caller then informed them that they had failed to appear for a grand jury hearing and needed to report to the courthouse immediately to resolve the issue.
One of the call recipients began asking questions, prompting the impersonator to abruptly disconnect the call.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office clarified that no such person as Deputy Stephon Warren exists in their ranks. Furthermore, Judge Beemer is not overseeing any cases connected to the Allegheny County Grand Jury.
As of now, the impersonator’s motives remain unclear since neither of the calls included a request for financial information or electronic transfer of funds.
