WASHINGTON, D.C. – Max, the 14-year-old dog stolen at gunpoint over the weekend, has been safely returned to his owner.

A citizen who found Max wandering in Kenilworth Park took him to the Sixth District Police Department yesterday. Detectives confirmed the dog’s identity and facilitated the reunion with his owner.

The original incident occurred on Saturday around 10:18 p.m. in the 300 block of Galloway Street, Northeast D.C. A suspect approached the victim behind, brandished a firearm, and demanded the dog. During an attempt to recover her pet, the victim was assaulted. The suspect then fled with Max in a waiting vehicle.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. In this case, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
