Gunshots Rang Out Before Fiery Crash in Franklin Township, Police Report

FRANKLIN TWP., NJ — An investigation is underway following reports of gunshots fired and a vehicle crashing into a local business on Matilda Avenue in Franklin Township, Somerset County, on the evening of Tuesday, October 24.

At 9:09 p.m., Franklin Township Police responded to the area and discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a business. A male passenger in the vehicle, a resident of Franklin Township, suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers at the scene also found evidence of gunshot damage to the crashed vehicle. No injuries were reported from the gunfire.


Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Franklin Township Police Department are conducting the investigation. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
