Harvard Launches Task Force To Support Students Named For Backing Hamas

Brandon Poulter on October 25, 2023

Harvard University is establishing a task force to support students who were named for allegedly being affiliated with groups who signed a statement supporting Hamas, according to the Harvard Crimson.

Over 30 Harvard student organizations signed a letter blaming “Israeli colonial occupation” for the terrorist attacks committed by Hamas against Israel Oct. 7. A truck with the names of the students who signed the letter drove around Harvard’s campus shortly after, and now the university is creating a task force to provide services to students who were allegedly named or harassed, according to The Harvard Crimson.

“We are truly grateful for all the tremendous work that students have put forth in supporting each other through this most difficult time, and we appreciate the collaborative spirit in which students, faculty, and staff have come together to repel this repugnant assault on our community,” Harvard Dean of Students Thomas Dunne wrote in an email, according to The Crimson. The task force will share resources, ensure the coordination of services and communicate with residential staff and university administrators, according to The Crimson.

“It is deplorable that, at the time of this writing, the Harvard administration has yet to meaningfully criticize or condemn the public doxxing campaigns threatening students — primarily targeting marginalized students who are Palestinian, Black, Arab, South Asian, Muslim, undocumented, and/or international,” a statement from Harvard’s Palestinian Solidarity Committee reads.

Student groups at other elite universities and colleges, including Columbia UniversityYale University and George Washington University, also put out statements supporting Palestine following the terrorist attack on Israel.

Harvard was providing named students with resources before the creation of the task force, according to the Crimson. A guide for students who said that Harvard’s career services center is “reaching out to employers independently to vouch for students and to discredit the doxxed profiles.”

Harvard did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
