Lancaster City Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder for Death of Damian Santiago, 19

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Following a three-day trial, Carlos Almanzar-Torres, 22, of Lancaster City, was found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

The incident occurred on March 14, 2022, when Almanzar-Torres fatally shot 19-year-old Damian Santiago inside a Sunoco/A-Plus on W. Orange Street.

Evidence and a video from the convenience store revealed the nature of the altercation between the two individuals. Almanzar-Torres and Santiago had a heated argument that turned physical, leading to Santiago being fatally shot.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office declared the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the chest.

After the incident, Almanzar-Torres surrendered to the Lancaster City Bureau of Police and revealed the firearm in his vehicle. He will now face a mandatory life sentence without parole.
