PORT JERVIS, NY – Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Noah James McCagg, 22, of Port Jervis, received a ten-year prison sentence on Monday.

The sentence, followed by five years of post-release supervision, is in connection with his guilty plea to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

On March 25, after a joint narcotics operation with the Orange County Drug Task Force, Port Jervis Police apprehended McCagg on Front Street.

During the arrest, they recovered a 9mm pistol which McCagg had manufactured using a 3-D printer. Further investigation led to the discovery of more firearm components and the printer at McCagg’s residence.

These firearms, often referred to as ghost guns, lack serial numbers, and their plastic components can be produced using 3-D printers. Illegal creators combine these parts with separately bought components to create functional firearms. District Attorney David M. Hoovler emphasized the threats posed by such untraceable firearms, especially when in the hands of criminals.
