Heroic D.C. Cop Honored for Taking Dangerous Violent Criminal Down

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Officer Omar Forrester of the Metro Police Department earned high praise and an Achievement Medal for his role in apprehending a dangerous assailant following a shooting incident in Northeast D.C.

The arrest occurred on October 9th after Officer Forrester, while on patrol, heard gunshots emanating from the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road. He witnessed the suspect attempting to flee the scene on foot and engaged in a chase.

During the pursuit, Forrester observed the suspect discard a firearm, which was later recovered.


The suspect was detained and faces charges of Assault with Intent to Kill. Acting Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith highlighted Officer Forrester’s “quick actions and excellent police work” as instrumental in the capture of the violent criminal and the seizure of the weapon.

Officer Forrester’s commitment was further recognized on October 25th when he was bestowed with an Achievement Medal, honoring his exceptional service to the community and dedication to maintaining safety in the District of Columbia.
