Cape May County Initiates “Code Blue” Weather Advisory As Severe Cold Forecasted

CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — Effective 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on Wednesday, the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management has declared a “Code Blue” severe weather advisory.

The advisory takes effect when temperatures drop to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below and aims to safeguard homeless individuals who are vulnerable to cold weather exposure. The emergency measure targets those living outside, in parks or in poorly insulated environments.

Residents in need of shelter during a Code Blue declaration are advised to contact the Cape May County Division of Social Services at (609) 886-6200 ext 2434 from Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Outside these hours, as well as on weekends and holidays, assistance can be reached by calling 2-1-1.
