ATLANTIC CITY – In a quick response to a burglary alert, the Atlantic City Police Department apprehended three young individuals suspected of attempting to burglarize and steal two vehicles.

The incident unfolded on October 31, 2023, around 5:31 PM. Patrol officers were dispatched to North Carolina and Pacific Avenues following reports of three juveniles tampering with vehicles. Officer Latray Butcher, upon arriving at the scene, spotted the trio. As he approached them for questioning, they chose to run. After a short chase, Officer Butcher managed to detain one of the suspects, a 16-year-old male who had two screwdrivers on his person.

The other two suspects, aged 12 and 15, were taken into custody by Officers Kyle Bender and Michael Regalbuto. Their arrest was facilitated by the fact that they surrendered upon seeing the police presence.

A vigilant resident pointed out the affected vehicles in a nearby parking lot. Both cars, identified as a Hyundai and a Kia, bore signs of a break-in with shattered windows and tampered ignitions.

In light of such incidents, the Atlantic City Police Department continues to offer wheel locks at no cost to city residents. These can be collected from the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building during specified hours.
