TRENTON, NJ – Leoncia Hutchinson, a 72-year-old from Metuchen, faces multiple charges after a grand jury indictment for insurance fraud and related crimes, according to announcements by Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (OIFP).

Hutchinson’s indictment on October 3, includes second-degree insurance fraud, third-degree theft by deception, money laundering, and multiple counts of forgery.

These charges follow an OIFP investigation into fraudulent claims made to Continental Casualty Company (CNA) between October 2018 and April 2019. Hutchinson allegedly submitted timesheets for a deceased caregiver to collect insurance payouts.

She is scheduled for arraignment on November 6, before Judge Joseph Paone. While Hutchinson maintains the presumption of innocence, the charges carry potential sentences ranging from 18 months to 10 years in NJSP.

The OIFP, with Deputy Attorney General Jana Robinson leading the grand jury presentation, asked the public to report suspected insurance fraud anonymously via hotline or their website.
