NYC Subway Conductor Attacked Inside East 138th Street station

NEW YORK, NY — A Metropolitan Transportation Authority conductor was assaulted while on duty aboard a northbound “6” train in the Bronx, officials reported.

The incident occurred at around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday at the Third Avenue and East 138th Street subway station. An unidentified individual on the platform struck the 32-year-old male conductor in the face as the train was departing the station.

Following the assault, the suspect immediately fled the scene and remains unidentified. The conductor received medical attention on site for minor injuries by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The assailant is described as a male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a dark complexion and a medium build. He was last noted wearing a black mask, a dark blue jacket, dark colored pants, and gray sneakers.

Police are currently investigating the assault and are searching for the suspect. The MTA has urged witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The MTA and NYPD are reviewing surveillance footage from the station and surrounding area in hopes of identifying the assailant. They have reassured the public and MTA employees that safety on the subway system is a priority.
