LANCASTER, PA – A Lancaster City Bureau of Police investigation has led to criminal homicide charges against Terrance McCain Jr., a 37-year-old resident of Laurel Street.

McCain waived his preliminary hearing on Thursday and will face first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and recklessly endangering another person charges in Lancaster County Court, with an arraignment set for December 8.

The incident occurred in the early hours of September 30 when police were called to the 900 block of S. Duke St. following a shooting at around 1:19 a.m. Edward Gardner was found with two gunshot wounds to the torso and was later pronounced dead.

Evidence, including witness statements, video footage, and social media, identified McCain Jr. as the shooter. The Lancaster City Bureau of Police detailed how McCain Jr. was seen retrieving a handgun from a vehicle, engaging in a confrontation with the victim, and subsequently firing three rounds at Gardner. McCain Jr. turned himself in on October 3.

The District Attorney’s office is handling the prosecution of the case, reminding the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
