West Harlem MTA Bus Attacker Sentenced to Prison

MANHATTAN, NY – Willie Gomez, 49, was sentenced to 14 years in state prison for a random knife attack on the M100 bus in West Harlem.

Gomez had previously pleaded guilty to first-degree assault on September 26.

The incident, which took place on May 5, 2020, involved Gomez stabbing a 58-year-old man multiple times and a 44-year-old man twice without provocation.


Both victims sustained severe injuries requiring extensive medical treatment.

District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. emphasized the city’s stance against violence on public transport and expressed his hopes for the victims’ recovery.
