McDOWELL COUNTY, NC – A disturbance and shooting on Fairview Road in the Marion area resulted in one fatality, as reported by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident, which took place on an unspecified date, led to the death of 47-year-old Jimmy Lee Cool.
McDowell County authorities announced that 38-year-old Jeffery Allen Higgins is being held without bond in connection with the shooting.
Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan stated that the investigation is in its early stages, with further information to be released as it becomes available. Higgins was identified as the suspected shooter earlier in the day and was subsequently interviewed and charged by Thursday night.
Fairview Road was temporarily closed with assistance from the NC Department of Transportation following the incident.
