NEW YORK, NY – Polaris issued a recall for about 1,065 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar and XP 1000 NorthStar Crew off-road vehicles, including 40 sold in Canada, due to brake and fire hazards. The recall, announced on November 9, 2023, addresses a faulty installation of the center brake line, which can lead to overheated brakes and diminished braking performance, posing risks of fire and crashes.

The recall involves specific VINs of Model Year 2023 of the mentioned vehicles. These RANGER vehicles come in blue, brown, camouflage, graphite, and white, and are available in three and six-seat configurations. They feature “POLARIS” on the front grille, and the model number and VIN can be found on the left rear frame under the cargo box.

Owners are advised to immediately cease using the recalled vehicles and contact Polaris or an authorized dealer for a free inspection and necessary repairs. Polaris is proactively reaching out to registered owners for direct notification.

There has been one reported incident of fire and three reports of kinked brake lines, though no crashes or injuries have been reported. The vehicles were available for purchase from June to September 2023, with prices ranging from $27,900 to $37,700.
