Man Shot in Leg in New Haven, Suspect’s Vehicle Found Abandoned

NEW HAVEN, CT – A shooting incident on Friday morning in New Haven resulted in a man sustaining a leg gunshot wound.

An officer patrolling near Townsend Avenue and Main Street around 11:30 a.m. heard what sounded like gunfire. Moments later, the injured man approached the police car, reporting that he had just been shot.

The vehicle from which the victim emerged sped away from the scene. A description of the fleeing vehicle was immediately circulated among nearby officers.


The injured man was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital by the officer for treatment; his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Police later discovered the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting abandoned near York Street. However, the occupants of the vehicle remain unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing.
