Traffic Alert: Bridge Closure in Somers Point

Charlie Dwyer

SOMERS POINT, NJ — A scheduled closure of the Ocean Heights Avenue bridge into Somers Point is set for Thursday night, November 16. The closure, effective from 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., will facilitate paving operations. The affected stretch extends from the Patcong Creek Bridge into Somers Point to Bethel Road in Egg Harbor Township (EHT).

During this period, a detour will be in place for traffic from EHT, directing vehicles along Blackman Road to Poplar Avenue, then onto New Road. The reverse route will apply for traffic coming from Somers Point. Local business traffic will maintain access from Blackman Road up to the bridge and from New Road up to Bethel Road. However, through traffic will be prohibited.

Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and, if possible, to plan an alternate route. The closure is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
