WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a timely intervention, the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department’s New H Street Bike Unit has apprehended a man accused of multiple package thefts in the area.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday as officers patrolled the H Street Corridor. They located and detained 41-year-old Daniel Lazarus Greene, who was wanted on active warrants related to package thefts. Greene, who has no fixed address, was subsequently charged with two counts of Second-Degree Theft and two counts of Failure to Appear.

With the holiday season on the horizon, the D.C. Metro Police Department seized the opportunity to remind residents to exercise vigilance with their package deliveries. They advise promptly collecting packages upon delivery or arranging for them to be safeguarded by family members or trustworthy neighbors if the recipient is unavailable. This proactive measure is essential to deter potential thefts, especially during a time when package deliveries see a significant increase.
