Maplewood Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood Police Department reported several vehicle-related incidents in November 2023.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: On November 9, 2023, a 2009 Ford Edge reported stolen on November 4 from a Millburn Ave business was recovered in Irvington, NJ. Officer Isetts located the vehicle, which was processed by detectives and returned to the owner.

Motor Vehicle Theft: On November 11, 2023, officers responded to a report of a stolen 2018 Audi A5 from a Durand Rd residence. The car, left with keys inside, was later found in Newark, NJ. Newark Police arrested Zahir Brinson, 19, of Newark, NJ, charging him with Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest.


Theft from Motor Vehicle: On November 13, 2023, a worker reported theft from an unsecured vehicle parked on Parker Ave. Personal items were stolen from the work vehicle.

Theft of Computers: The same day, a Plymouth Pl resident reported the theft of two computers during a transaction on Springfield Ave. The resident, attempting to sell the computers on Facebook Marketplace, was robbed by a suspect described as around 5’9”, wearing a black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a white cloth mask.

Motor Vehicle Stop Leading to Arrest: On November 15, 2023, Officer Perone conducted a stop for a minor traffic offense. The driver, Alshameke Diggs, 34, of Irvington, NJ, was discovered to have an outstanding warrant from Monmouth County and was subsequently arrested and handed over to Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers.
