GLEN BURNIE, MD – On the evening of Thursday, Western District detectives, collaborating with the Criminal Investigation Division Auto Theft Task Force, conducted patrols in Glen Burnie as part of a vehicle theft reduction initiative.

Around 7:30 p.m., near Elvaton Road and Tall Pines Court, they located a stolen white 2023 Volkswagen Taos from Montgomery County.

Attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver reversed into a detective’s vehicle before fleeing. The chase ended on Upton Road, where both occupants were apprehended.

The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile from Baltimore, and passenger Nicholas Thomas Battle, 20, of Glen Burnie, face charges related to motor vehicle theft and assaulting an officer.

Additionally, the passenger possessed a key fob for another stolen vehicle, a 2019 Nissan Altima, found nearby.
