Norfolk Police Officer Charged with Child Abuse Following Grocery Store Incident

NORFOLK, VA – A Norfolk police officer has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident of child abuse that took place at a local grocery store on the night of Saturday, November 18.

Around 9:10 p.m., police were called to the Harris Teeter store located at 1320 Colonial Avenue following a report of a violent domestic situation. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the involved parties had left the store, but store staff provided security footage of the incident. The footage revealed that the suspect was a Norfolk Police Officer.

Following the investigation, Jonluke W. Beasley, a 33-year-old Norfolk police sergeant, was arrested around 11:10 p.m. on November 18th. Beasley has been charged with child abuse and was subsequently released on bond.
