Over 1,000 Turkey Meals Distributed by Director Vicari and Volunteers

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Joseph H. Vicari, Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners, emphasized the importance of supporting needy community members, particularly during holidays. This sentiment was echoed during a recent turkey meal giveaway event organized in collaboration with the Fulfill Food Bank of Ocean and Monmouth County.

The event at The JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River saw more than 1,000 turkey meals distributed to senior citizens and families. Vicari, alongside a team of dedicated volunteers, facilitated the distribution, ensuring those in need received meals ahead of Thanksgiving.

Multiple locations across the county will offer Thanksgiving meals to extend the support further. These include the Lacey United Methodist Church in Forked River, St. Gregory’s at the Elks Lodge in Point Pleasant Beach, Simon’s Soup Kitchen in Seaside Heights, and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Toms River. These sites will provide both sit-down and to-go meal options to community members.

Vicari, who also liaises with the Ocean County Office of Senior Services, highlighted the challenges faced by seniors during the holiday season. He encouraged seniors needing assistance to contact the office throughout the year.

The gesture underlines the community’s commitment to ensuring no resident faces hunger during Thanksgiving or at any other time of the year.
