Charges Filed Against Man Who Abandoned Dog at Airport Parking Lot

PITTSBURGH, PA – County Police have filed charges against David Mittelberger Sr., a 68-year-old man from Windsor Heights, West Virginia, in connection with abandoning a dog at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Responding to tips from the public, investigators identified Mittelberger as the person responsible for leaving the dog, named Mikey, at the airport.

Charges filed against him include abandonment of animals, neglect of animals, and cruelty to animals, all of which are summary offenses.


Mikey, now under the care of Animal Friends, was found to have an active mouth infection and requires dental care.

The police is working to secure a court order to ensure Mikey receives the necessary medical attention.
