ROXBURY, NJ – Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone announced the discovery of the body of 46-year-old Lara Emanuele. Reported missing since June 7, 2023, Emanuele’s remains were found in a wooded area off Howard Boulevard and Route 80 in Roxbury Township on November 19, 2023.
The recovery followed extensive search operations involving multiple law enforcement agencies and search organizations, including K9 units and technical assistance. The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the remains as Emanuele, listing the cause and manner of death as undetermined and indicating no suspicious causes.
Emanuele’s vehicle was found in the parking lot of a hotel on Howard Boulevard, near the Berkshire Valley State Wildlife Management Area, which became the focus of the search. A note found in her vehicle and surveillance footage suggests she may have taken her own life.
Prosecutor Carroll extended condolences to Emanuele’s family, acknowledging the outpouring of support and concern from the community. He also addressed social media rumors, clarifying current evidence points to a self-inflicted cause. Details are being shared for transparency, considering the public interest in the case.
