NEW JERSEY — Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is actively working to restore electricity to approximately 6,000 customers following a storm system that swept through the area overnight. The company has prioritized restoring power quickly and safely, focusing on essential services like lights and refrigeration units.

The power outages are affecting many regions in New Jersey including North Jersey, Central Jersey, the Jersey Shore, Skylands and other regions.

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, JCP&L has advised the public to expect larger work zones established for crew safety. The company has also increased staffing levels, with additional crew members called in on their scheduled days off to expedite the restoration process.

Customers experiencing power outages are encouraged to report their situation by calling 1-888-544-4877, visiting JCP&L’s website, or texting “OUT” to 544487. JCP&L is also updating its outage map with estimated restoration times as crews continue their efforts to bring power back to affected areas.
