INVERNESS, FL – An early morning well-being check led Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies to a grim discovery near Eden Drive, Inverness. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 23.

Upon arrival, deputies noted signs of foul play and attempted to contact the homeowner, who is now a suspect in the case. Entry into the home revealed the suspect with a likely self-inflicted gunshot wound to the stomach. He received immediate transport to a medical facility; his current condition awaits updates.

The investigation intensified as deputies found a deceased male in the trunk of a vehicle on the property. CCSO’s Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Technicians are on the scene, having secured a search warrant to gather essential evidence.

Sheriff Mike Prendergast expressed the community’s distress, especially given the timing of the holiday. He assured that the CCSO, working tirelessly, has secured a suspect and is maintaining public safety. The investigation is active, and more details will be shared as they become available.
