17-Year-Old Involved in Friday Night Crash Passes, Police Investigating

FREDERICK, MD – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last night in Frederick County, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old local resident.

The victim has been identified as Henry Alberto Sosa Torres, 17, of Emmitsburg. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) from Frederick County pronounced Torres deceased at the scene.

The incident took place shortly after 11 pm on westbound I-70 near New Design Road. Troopers, responding to reports of a pedestrian in the roadway, found Torres struck by a vehicle.


The preliminary investigation revealed that Mojisola Sofoluke, 64, from Owings Mills, was driving a blue 2007 Mercedes Benz sedan on I-70 when she struck the pedestrian. Sofoluke was transported to Meritus Medical Center in Washington County for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Maryland State Police are actively pursuing leads and request that anyone with information or who witnessed the incident contact them to aid in the investigation.
