Manual Transmission Thwarts Carjacking

SEVERN, MD – On November 23, two armed suspects fled an attempted robbery in Severn after discovering their target’s vehicle had a manual transmission. The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Kilmory Court.

The 22-year-old victim, who was outside smoking, was approached by the suspects demanding money and car keys. Upon learning the car was manual, the suspects, unable to operate it, escaped on foot. Police conducted an area search but did not locate them.

Western District detectives are handling the investigation. They request anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700. Descriptions of the suspects have been provided: both are Black males, one wearing black jeans, a black jacket, and a black face mask, and the other in black jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black mask.
