Maplewood Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Maplewood Police Department reported several vehicle-related incidents in the town, highlighting a concerning trend in the community.

Theft from Motor Vehicle On November 16, a theft from a motor vehicle was reported at a Springfield Ave construction site. An employee of the business parked their work vehicle, which was left unsecured. Later, they discovered tools missing from the vehicle.

Stolen Motor Vehicle On November 18, officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle at a Springfield Ave business. The owner left his vehicle running in the parking lot. He then saw someone enter and drive the vehicle towards Chancellor Ave into Irvington.


DUI Arrests On November 19, two separate DUI arrests occurred:

  • Officer Angerville responded to a motor vehicle crash on South Fourth St. Rasheed Landrum, 42, of Irvington, NJ, was arrested for DUI. Additional summonses were issued for refusal to submit to testing, reckless and careless driving, and failure to provide proof of insurance.
  • Sergeant DeFazio conducted a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of Alexander Branch, 41, of Easton, PA, for DUI. Summonses were also issued for refusal to submit to testing, driving while suspended, and improper passing.

Theft from Motor Vehicle Another incident on November 19 involved a theft from a motor vehicle on Prospect St. The owner reported parking their work vehicle on November 18. The next day, they found a window broken and work tools stolen.

The Maplewood Police Department urges residents to remain vigilant and secure their vehicles at all times. They also emphasize the importance of not leaving vehicles unattended and running. The department is actively investigating these incidents and asks anyone with information to come forward.
