Howell Council Meeting Dumped After Rumors Swirl About Randolph Road Recycling Project Settlement

HOWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Rumors are swirling in Howell Township over an alleged settlement between the Randolph Road recycling center and Monmouth County officials. An agreement between the owners of the property formerly owned by Resource Engineering and the Monmouth County Board of Commissioners was rumored to have been struck, but elected officials are quiet.

A group that has fought against the Howell dump site and recycling center claimed the settlement was imminent and action was to be taken at the town council meeting on Tuesday night.

The township posted the following message hours before the meeting: “The Howell Township Council meeting for November 28, 2023 has been canceled. The ordinances to be adopted tonight will be carried to the next regularly scheduled meeting on December 12, 2023. The ordinances to be introduced tonight will be carried to January 2024.”

The Howell site was not listed on the official public agenda. Township and county officials have not commented yet on the claims regarding the alleged settlement.

Residents have fought for years to prevent the Randolph Road site from becoming a reality, claiming traffic and pollution concerns on the single-lane road.

Shore News Network was unable to confirm the alleged settlement agreement. The battle between the township and the site operator has been ongoing since 2018.
