Phil Murphy Says Wife Tammy Murphy Will Earn Every Single Vote, Dismisses Nepotism Claims

Phil Stilton

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy is exactly what New Jersey needs down in Washington, D.C. and she’s the hardest-working person Governor Phil Murphy has ever met. That was the endorsement made on Monday by her husband, Governor Phil Murphy.

“She’s working her tail off,” Mr. Murphy said. “She’ll sprint through the tape.”

When asked why the Murphys are running for office again, instead of supporting well-liked and well-respected U.S. Congressman Andy Kim, he said he’s doing a fine job, but noted that six of the eight Democrats in the New Jersey caucus have already endorsed his wife.

“That’s not by accident,” Murphy said. “May the best person win. I’ll be standing by her side the entire way.”

Murphy dismissed claims of nepotism, saying notions of smoke-filled rooms are not reality.

“These are people who have been building the Democrat party for decades,” he said. “And Tammy is the person they have chosen.”
