Woman Critically Injured in Greenbelt Shooting, Suspect at Large

GREENBELT, MD – A 21-year-old woman is critically injured following a shooting incident in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The Greenbelt Police Department reports that the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Monday outside an apartment complex on Springhill Court.

The victim was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma and is currently in critical condition. The police have cordoned off a large area around the complex for investigation, placing evidence markers at the scene.


A local resident, Rocio Velasquez, witnessed the shooting while carrying her infant son. She reported seeing an unidentified individual in a hoodie firing approximately four shots before discarding clothes in a dumpster and fleeing the scene.

The police are actively searching for the suspect, and the investigation continues.
