FREEHOLD, NJ – Tyheim McGhee, a 28-year-old resident of Asbury Park, pleaded guilty to serious drug distribution charges, as announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago on Thursday.

The guilty plea, delivered on November 6, 2023, was for the distribution of over half an ounce of cocaine and possession of over five ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute. McGhee entered his plea before the Honorable Judge Jill O’Malley of the Monmouth County Superior Court. He now faces a sentence of 12 years in a New Jersey State Prison, with the sentencing scheduled for January 26, 2024.

McGhee’s guilty plea is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force. The investigation, conducted in February and March 2023, revealed that McGhee sold over half an ounce of cocaine to an undercover officer on four separate occasions.

The case reached a turning point on March 24, 2023, when a search warrant was executed at McGhee’s Borden Avenue residence. The operation was carried out by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Enterprise Unit, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, and the Asbury Park Police Department. During the search, authorities recovered over five ounces of cocaine and various items associated with the distribution of narcotics.
