EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ – Egg Harbor Township Police, alongside the Atlantic County SWAT team, are engaged in a standoff on the intersection of Tremont Avenue and Bates Avenue. The incident began around 4 a.m. following a disturbance report. The initial caller indicated that the involved male, potentially armed, may have fired a shot, though this claim remains unverified.

Upon arrival, officers established brief contact with the suspect, who then ceased communication. Efforts are ongoing to re-engage with the individual, believed to be experiencing mental health issues. Authorities are committed to resolving the situation peacefully.

The investigation is ongoing, and while there is no immediate threat to the public, the area is currently restricted as a precaution. Residents are advised to avoid the vicinity until the situation is resolved.
