Senator Urges Investigation into New Jersey Dem ‘Dark Money’ Group in NYC

Robert Walker

Senator Vince Polistina has requested a thorough investigation by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) into the activities of dark money organizations, particularly focusing on their alleged role in the state’s recent elections. Polistina highlighted concerns regarding these groups’ efforts to influence elections through shadow candidates and Super PACs, specifically citing the case of Jersey Freedom, a dark money group based in Jamaica, New York.

Polistina’s letter to ELEC Chairman Thomas H. Prol emphasized the need for clarity on Jersey Freedom’s operations.

He questioned the organization’s financial transparency, particularly its late disclosure of expenditures and the suspicious credit extension by Creative Print Group, despite Jersey Freedom reportedly having no funds in its bank account.

The senator stressed the importance of a transparent investigation to uphold public confidence in New Jersey’s electoral process, calling for prosecution of any uncovered illegal activities.

He expressed concern over Jersey Freedom’s tactics, including misleading mailers and emails targeting politicians like Congressman Van Drew, and the undue influence on electoral outcomes in Districts 2 and 4.
