Multiple Carjacking Spree in D.C. Ends with Arrest of Suspect

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The D.C.Metro Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force achieved a breakthrough with the arrest of a man linked to multiple carjackings and a vehicle break-in across Washington, D.C. The string of crimes spanned three months, from September to November.

Ricardo Tylib Washington, 32, from Southeast D.C., faces charges for his alleged involvement in four carjackings and one unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. The incidents are detailed as follows:

1. Armed carjacking on September 27th, around 4:23 p.m., at Kalorama Road and Columbia Road, Northwest.
2. Another armed carjacking on the same day at 7:42 p.m., at the intersection of I Street and 18th Street, Northeast.
3. Unarmed carjacking on September 28th, approximately at 3:30 p.m., in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast.
4. Armed carjacking on October 28th around 9:46 p.m., also in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast.
5. Unlawful motor vehicle entry on November 29th, at about 11:27 a.m., in the 1200 block of Gallatin Street, Northeast.

Washington was apprehended on Wednesday. In addition to the carjacking-related charges, he faces accusations of receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
