U.S. Postal Truck Broken Into, Packages Stolen

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre Police Department is investigating a series of mail thefts involving United States Postal Service vehicles.

On Thursday, at 12:23 pm, officers were dispatched to 16 Lockhart Street, where a postal employee reported a break-in to her vehicle. The suspect had smashed the passenger side window and stolen a tray of mail.

A similar incident occurred the next day, Friday, at 192 High Street. The thief extracted three packages from another postal vehicle. In both cases, the suspect fled the scene, and no witnesses have come forward.


The suspect, described only as a male, utilized a black Jeep in these crimes. The U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office is collaborating with the Wilkes-Barre Police in this ongoing investigation.
