ASBURY PARK, NJ – A lawsuit has been filed by Louis A. Billotti, the owner of a GTO, against legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, Sony Music Entertainment, and the artist’s managers. The lawsuit alleges that Springsteen used Billotti’s GTO without permission or reasonable compensation in a mega-entertainment venture.

The suit claims that Mr. Billotti, in his final months, frequently discussed an October photoshoot and inquired about the contract with his son.

However, he was never sent a contract detailing the marketing terms to which he was entitled as the GTO owner. The lawsuit argues that the GTO was used extensively in various forms of merchandise and promotional materials associated with Springsteen’s work.

The lawsuit specifically mentions Springsteen’s appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show in November 2022, during which he discussed the GTO and showcased images of the vehicle on national television.

The legal action includes allegations of negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment. Springsteen’s attorney responded, stating that any claims or damages incurred were the result of actions by third parties beyond Springsteen’s, his record company’s, and his managers’ control.

The case underscores the importance of intellectual property rights and permissions in the entertainment industry, and it will be closely monitored as it develops. A spokesperson for Sony Music Entertainment has yet to respond to requests for comment.
