Deltona Salon Burglar Arrested Along With Murder Suspect

Jeff Jones

DELTONA, FL — Volusia sheriff’s detectives have successfully apprehended 21-year-old Xavier Jones Jr. of Orlando, believed to be responsible for multiple burglaries at Central Florida nail salons. The breakthrough in the case came with the help of video evidence, license plate reader technology, fingerprints, and DNA analysis.

The investigation intensified after a break-in at Spa Nail salon in Deltona on November 22. Surveillance footage captured a masked suspect smashing the salon’s front door and attempting to break open the cash register. The suspect’s vehicle, a white Infiniti sedan with the Florida tag 82D DGL, was later linked to another salon burglary in Edgewater.

Using license plate readers, detectives traced the car back to Jones. Upon collaborating with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was located at Jones’s residence and seized as evidence. A search warrant led to the discovery of a mask, glove, loose coins, a nail salon loyalty card, pieces of a cash register, and black boots with shards of broken glass, all consistent with the crimes.

Despite Jones’s denial of involvement, DNA analysis from the mask matched his sample, leading to his arrest on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and violation of probation. He is currently held in the Orange County Jail.

Additionally, while at Jones’s house, detectives identified Taverance T. Jackson Jr. of Opa-locka, who was wanted for murder in Georgia. Jackson was implicated in a November 30 shooting in Albany, GA, that resulted in two fatalities and one injury.
