WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department celebrated a significant expansion of its Canine Unit, thanks to a $15,000 grant from MotorWorld Toyota, part of MileOne AutoGroup.

This donation, announced on Friday, furthers the department’s commitment to community policing and enhancing public safety.

Over the past seven years, the unit, notably Patrolman Homza and his canine partner “Chase,” have made substantial contributions to local and regional law enforcement.

The additional funding will enable the department to add more canine teams, emphasizing the value of trained police canines in fostering police-community relations and ensuring community safety.

The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department states that this expansion exemplifies their ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities and maintain a strong bond with the community it serves.
