MINNESOTA – Ryan Charles Rooney, a 36-year-old man from Minnesota, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years for the murder of his wife, 29-year-old Samantha Boshey. The sentence was handed down by Hennepin County District Court Judge Daniel C. Moreno.

Rooney was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder, committing domestic abuse with a past pattern of domestic abuse, by a 12-person jury on November 2. The verdict followed a trial that lasted over two weeks.

During the sentencing hearing, the emotional impact of the crime on Boshey’s family was highlighted through victim impact statements. Charles Boshey, Samantha’s father, expressed profound grief over the loss of his daughter, noting how the incident shattered their family and robbed him of the chance to see his daughter live her life fully.
