Texas Man Arrested for Brutal Assault on Woman in Pasture Had Ankle Monitor

TEXAS – Roger Gonzalez, a 31-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, has been arrested for a violent attack on a woman, leaving her critically injured. Gonzalez was apprehended on Sunday afternoon, following a police search initiated after reports of a wounded woman found in a pasture.

The victim, discovered wrapped in plastic in a pasture near Poteet, Texas, approximately 40 miles from San Antonio, suffered severe injuries. According to the Atacosa County Sheriff’s Office, she was beaten, stabbed, and had her throat slashed. The woman was taken to a hospital and is currently in stable condition, though her injuries were serious.

Details leading to Gonzalez’s arrest at a San Antonio residence have not been disclosed, but investigators acted on specific tips. Sheriff David Soward of Atacosa County, speaking to CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS5, revealed that Gonzalez and the victim were in a relationship.


Gonzalez, who was on an ankle monitor at the time of the alleged attack, has a criminal record in California, including convictions for drug and weapons charges in Kern County, Texas.

He is now facing a charge of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Gonzalez is being held at the Atacosa County Jail, with his bond set at $275,000.
