Flood Watch Issued for Several Maryland Counties, Safety Advisory Released

Jeff Jones

The Maryland Department of Emergency Management has announced a flood watch for Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne, and Talbot Counties. The watch is effective from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon, with concerns of heavy rain and high winds forecasted. In some areas, the rain may transition into snow.

Residents are advised to exercise caution, especially concerning power-related issues. In the event of power loss, those using generators are reminded to adhere strictly to all manufacturer safety requirements. For those employing alternate power sources for heating, it is crucial to maintain these sources vigilantly and be alert for any signs of fire risk.

Families are urged to keep children and pets away from any heat source. If candles are used for lighting during power outages, they should be placed on a flat surface with a minimum of 12 inches of clearance around them, and away from children and pets.
