TOMS RIVER, NJ – On Friday, December 8th, 2023, the East Dover Fire Company was dispatched to a residential property on Sandy Place following an activated fire alarm at approximately 7:44 pm. First responders, including patrol units, arrived at the scene to find visible flames on the third floor of the home, leading to an escalation of the incident to a 2-Alarm structure fire. This development called for mutual aid from neighboring areas.

Firefighting crews from the East Dover Fire Company promptly addressed the blaze. In response to the lack of nearby fire hydrants, the teams utilized over 2,200 feet of large diameter hose to supply water to the firefighting apparatus at the scene. Remarkably, there were no injuries reported among civilians or emergency personnel.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was accidental, likely stemming from a failure in energized electrical equipment. The incident is currently under further investigation by Inspector Carlin of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and Patrolman Fallano of the Toms River Police Department.

Chief Inspector Matthew Janora, serving as the Fire Official, emphasized the swift and effective response of the firefighting teams under challenging circumstances.
