BETHESDA, MD – On Monday, November 20, at approximately 12:43 p.m., the Montgomery County Police Department responded to a report of a commercial armed robbery at the Amazon Fresh store in the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. The investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Demetri Gaskins of Washington, D.C.

Detectives discovered that Gaskins, along with three accomplices, filled bags with items from the store. When confronted by an employee, one of the suspects displayed a handgun and announced the robbery.

The group then fled the scene with stolen items. Following a public request for assistance, an anonymous tipster provided information leading to the identification of Gaskins.

Gaskins was arrested on December 5, on the strength of a warrant and has been charged with first-degree assault, armed robbery, and firearm-related charges. He is currently held without bond.

The Montgomery County Police Department appreciates the public’s assistance in solving crimes and reminds that information leading to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $10,000.
