Maplewood Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood Police Department reported several incidents, highlighting the ongoing challenges of vehicle-related crimes and DUI offenses in the area.

Theft from Motor Vehicle (December 6): A resident on Harding St experienced a theft from their unsecured vehicle parked in the driveway. Upon returning to the vehicle the next day, they found it had been rummaged through, with a wallet and other personal items stolen.

Stolen Motor Vehicle (December 9): Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a Springfield Ave business. The owner had left their vehicle running and unsecured in the parking lot. The suspect, described as wearing a black hooded sweater, white t-shirt, black sweatpants, and white sneakers, lost control of the vehicle, abandoned it at Springfield Ave and Tuscan St, and fled on foot. The vehicle was recovered without damage.


DUI Arrest (December 9): Officers Singleton and Angerville responded to a motor vehicle crash at Lancaster Ave and Elmwood Ave. Jessica Hoynowski, 43, of Maplewood, NJ, was arrested for DUI. She received multiple summonses, including for reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and failing to possess necessary vehicle documents.
