Bull on the Tracks: Commuter Chaos at Newark Penn Station

NEWARK, NJ — On Thursday morning, commuters at Newark Penn Station faced an unexpected delay when a bull was spotted roaming the tracks. The incident, which quickly spread across social media, caused significant disruptions to New Jersey Transit service.

NJ Transit alerted passengers of up to 45-minute delays between Newark Penn and Penn Station New York, citing police activity near Newark Penn Station as the cause. The agency also announced that NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were being cross-honored by PATH at Hoboken, Newark Penn, and 33rd Street in New York.

Efforts to address the situation involved the Newark Police Emergency Services Unit and the Port Authority Police Department. Together, they successfully contained the bull in a fenced lot. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

The bull is now under the care of a local animal sanctuary, ensuring its safety following the morning’s events. The situation at Newark Penn Station has since been resolved, allowing normal transit services to resume.
