MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, alongside Chief Detectives Robert McNally, Mount Olive Township Police Chief Stephen Beecher, and Boonton Township Police Chief Thomas Cacciabeve, have announced the arrest of 60-year-old Jose A. Lousa of Mount Olive Township. Lousa is accused of maintaining a peer-to-peer child abuse network and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Lousa faces serious charges including one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for operating a peer-to-peer file sharing program containing CSAM, classified as a first-degree offense. Additionally, he is charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for the possession of CSAM, a second-degree offense.
The arrest followed an investigation initiated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations Newark – Child Exploitation Group. The investigators identified potential CSAM activity on a BitTorrent site within Morris County. BitTorrent is known for its use as a peer-to-peer file sharing network, which in this case, was allegedly used for distributing illegal material.
