NYPD Officers Involved in Deadly Lower Manhattan Armed Standoff

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A standoff in Lower Manhattan last Thursday ended with one dead when NYPD officers fatally shot a barricaded suspect. The incident began before noon on Eldridge Street, where officers intended to serve a warrant.

During the standoff, the suspect exited the apartment, firing several rounds, and striking an NYPD Emergency Service Unit officer in his ballistic vest.

In response, officers returned fire, critically injuring the suspect. The suspect was transported to Bellevue Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The injured officer remained at the scene and is expected to recover fully.


Details regarding the warrant and whether the suspect resided in the apartment are still under investigation. The NYPD is conducting a thorough review of the incident.
